I was cruising Galleries and discovered Kriscynical's stamp collection. I was surprised at how many of them we have in common.
That inspired me to do a few stamps of my own. I'm not going to do them as .gifs because of the color limitations. This means the files will be a little larger, but with the ungodly size of photo files these days, I think it will go entirely unnoticed in the grand scale of things.
For those who don't agree as I do...well... Draw whatever you like. I will.

Thank you! I'm pleased with how it came out. The image *took forever* to get right and it just seemed to go so well with how I look at things. Even though I can be provoked into arguing, I MUCH rather discuss things rationally.
I had one commenter who openly told me that she (it?) was actually hoping to get me riled up because she enjoyed it. I know, doesn't make sense does it? Sooooo, I created a journal entry and a few stamps that set some boundaries regarding my fan art. I mean, I abide by the rules:
1. I don't trace and recolor.
2. I always give the original artist credit. (No amount of wishing will make InuYasha mine, so I have to do the right thing and give the proper credits.
3. I do artwork that is *inspired by* Takahashi's works. I don't copy her style, and I don't mess with her story. Everything I do works within the cracks (areas that are not filled with canon) or works outside the timeline.
4. So far, I haven't made a dime on characters that aren't mine. Will I someday? I might, given that the manga artists in Japan very often started their own careers doing doujinshi or fanzine art. Besides, nothing I do will have any impact whatsoever on any business ventures Takahashi may have.
Therefore, the haters can take their hate elsewhere, and get over their own self-righteousness. After all, the girl I spoke of had a DA site herself, and NOT ONE STITCH OF ART ON IT! And she has the audacity to come criticizing ME??? Keh! All gas and no substance, I say.
Talk about gas, I'm just gassing on....Sorry about that. Back to doing art now! Thanks for writing! I have lots of new InuYasha works coming!
I know what you mean. I've been accused of tracing.
Unfortunately one of the Haters (of Manga/Anime) is a staff member of DA and he gets to call all fanartists (in very polite but still understood words) pedophiles.

I too, have been artistically inclined since childhood. It's a bona fide super power to be able to put what you see in your head down on paper and make it look good enough to make others happy you did it. My husband thinks it's magic. Me too, really. I got burned out a number of years ago when I got tired of the fanboys who wanted sex this and sex that. I can only "prostitute" my art for so long before I get sick of it.
But drawing InuYasha has been really good for me. I'm learning how to do characters with "presence" and how to do anatomy right. Plus, I'm learning how to be a good and engaging writer. All these things are valuable skills that will only open many more doors for me.
I may grow past InuYasha as an artist and creator, but I will never outgrow my affection for him and what he's brought back to me. He's made art fun for me again and that's just incredible!
Like you, I hope I can carry many of the fun things of childhood with me for the rest of my life...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
