These two images show how much farther I've gotten on the interior details.
I made seven pots of Sculpey and fashioned lids for them.
I hand stitched grass mats.
I made a fully functional suspension rig over the firepit. This rig uses tension on the wooden fish shape to hold the rod at a certain height within the tube. I can adjust it by taking the pot off the hook and pushing the rod up to release the fish's hold on the rod. It's an ingenious system for suspending a pot over a fire.
The roof image at top is a bit out of focus, but that's what you would see if you looked up inside the house. Each of the places where roof rods cross battens, there is a rope lashing. There were over a hundred of those to make!
I still have more stuff to do, but I'm hopeful that I can complete the minka inside and out by the end of this week. When that happens, I'll post final pictures with a picture of the only diagram I had to work from.

how did u make the grass mat door?! i'm currently looking into making a minka replica of kaede's house as well, Seeing as i'm such a HUGE fan of the Inuyasha Anime & Manga series!! but i cant seem to get the look of the door & grass mats to look the way i want them too...really could use some helpful advise here, what did u use for materials when making the grass mats & the door? & can i find it at my local craft stores, such as Michael's or A.C.Moore's? any info or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!! & at it w/ this u r really good! u did such an AMAZING job on this, im a lil jealous, lol!
